Russia Rolls Own GigaChat alternative to ChatGPT

Russia Rolls Own GigaChat alternative to ChatGPT

Russia has been censoring pretty much everything online recently, and the famous A.I. ChatGPT from OpenAI also got banned in Russia. As a replacement, one of Russia's biggest banks Sberbank created their own Russian AI, known as Kandinsky, with a text AI called GigaChat.

It all seemed great until a prominent Russian politician complained that the new A.I. wasn't PATRIOTIC ENOUGH: according to him, Russia's new AI creates a negative image of Russia and praises Ukraine & the West, as well as criticizing the Russian Z propaganda. As a result of this, the AI developers were reported to the authorities and had to make some changes to the algorithm to make sure that the AI is Z enough.

Join Tech Prime on a thrilling exploration of GigaChat, Sberbank's powerful AI chatbot and rival to ChatGPT. Discover its unique features, capabilities, and how it's reshaping the world of artificial intelligence. Are you ready for the colossal AI battle?

Russia’s GigaChat, Western ChatGPT reflect divergent worldviews — Russian prime minister

ALMATY, February 2. /TASS/. Dramatically divergent worldviews lie at the core of Russia’s GigaChat and the Western ChatGPT, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said during the plenary session of the Digital Almaty 2024 forum.

"The way of thinking of artificial intelligence depends on the training data set and reflects the specifics of the country of origin. Thus, the 'brains' of the Russian GigaChat and Western ChatGPT represent fundamentally divergent worldviews. A different understanding of good and evil. And when AI solutions are being introduced in critically important fields, such as science, medicine and industry, it is important to use those models that correspond to our own national interest. And we are taking this into account," the Russian prime minister said.

Earlier, Digital Development Minister Maksut Shadayev said that, in 2024, plans call for rolling out the introduction of GPT-based technologies for conducting consultations on Russia’s Gosuslugi portal for providing government services to the public.

April 24 (Reuters) - Russian lender Sberbank said on Monday it had released technology called GigaChat as a rival to ChatGPT, initially in an invite-only testing mode, joining the artificial intelligence chatbot race.

The release last year of ChatGPT, a chatbot from the Microsoft-backed startup OpenAI, has caused a sprint in the technology sector to put AI into more users' hands. The hope is to reshape how people work and win business in the process.

Sberbank said what sets GigaChat apart was its ability to communicate more intelligently in Russian than other foreign neural networks.

Russia's dominant bank has invested heavily in technology in recent years, seeking to reduce the country's reliance on imports, a process that has become critically important as Western nations have slashed exports to Russia and imposed punitive sanctions over Moscow's actions in Ukraine.
